People assume editing is chaotic, fast, technical, and stressful. But the truth is, editing feels more like meditation than anything else.
When I’m editing, I’m fully present. I’m listening deeply, noticing every breath, every shift in tone, every quiet detail that most people never hear.
Time slows down.
Focus sharpens.
The outside world fades.
It’s calm work, steady, intentional, almost soothing.
And yes, it comes with “extra steps”…
Undo.
Redo.
Cut.
Adjust.
Level.
Zoom in.
Zoom out.
But the rhythm of it is peaceful.
If you’re a podcaster editing your own show, try leaning into that experience:
- Put on comfortable headphones
- Close other tabs
- Take your time
- Let yourself get absorbed
The more present you are, the better your edits, and the more enjoyable the process.
Editing is meditation… except the final result is something others get to hear.
